3/15/12...... Petitions were issued to the three Associations (the Meadows, Tanglewood Patio Homes and Tarpon Woods First Addition (Annwood) to be completed and submitted to the county...for the placement of stop signs along Tanglewood Trail
....in addition the County has begun surveying and preparing to install sidewalks on both sides of the trail from Tarpon Woods Blvd to the walkways along Ruen Drive.....in 2013.

b.) Mr. Yauch along with Mr. Washburn addressed the construction of the sidewalk from the
Ray, we can talk about it at the meeting, but the engineering group did provide a Notice to Proceed to the Contractor on Monday for both Tarpon Woods Boulevard and Tanglewood Trail sidewalks…about a $250K work order. The contractor has a few weeks to obtain materials and mobilize; we do not yet have their schedule, but I should have by Monday night.

Here is an update on the work that is planned or underway for the area:
Sidewalk on Tarpon Woods Boulevard – The plans have been completed and provided to the sidewalks contractor for pricing. At the last progress meeting, it was scheduled for construction in February 2012. We have a progress meeting later this week and will advise if the schedule has changed.
We were advised by County Commissioner Latvala that the addition of sidewalks westward from the current end just east of the Brooker Creek Bridge to East Lake Road has be DEFUNDED and is no longer under consideration.
1/11/2010 As of this date we are unable to get a commitment as to when the sidewalk project will begin.
6/20/2010 We continue to await this project. Budget cuts are hampering the start.
8/10/2010 No information as yet.
In 2008 a permit was posted in the paper concerning the construction of a sidewalk and pedestrian overpass in the Tarpon Woods Community… Do not be concerned about this permit...it is to allow the county to build (finish building) a sidewalk from
There are two phases of this project. The first being the extension of the sidewalk from Lost Oaks to East Lake Road. This phase of the project is approved and funded with work supposedly starting very soon.
The second phase will be the construction of the pedestrian bridge parallel to the existing bridge just past the Country Club entrance allowing pedestrians to continue on a sidewalk instead of walking on the street. This phase is yet to be funded.
