COMMITTED TO PROTECT AND PRESERVE

THE BEAUTY OF TARPON WOODS

1/11/2010 As of this date we are unable to get a commitment as to when the sidewalk project will begin.

In 2008 a permit was posted in the paper concerning the construction of a sidewalk and pedestrian overpass in the Tarpon Woods Community…    Do not be concerned about this permit...it is to allow the county to build (finish building) a sidewalk from East Lake Road to a the point where it now ends about 100 yards east of the bridge over Brooker Creek. The pedestrian bridge will cross Brooker Creek, parallel to the existing bridge as the bridge itself is not wide enough to accomodate a sidewalk. This project will allow us to walk from East Lake Road to Ridgemoor Blvd without having to go into the street.

There are two phases of this project. The first being the extension of the sidewalk from Lost Oaks to East Lake Road. This phase of the project is approved and funded with work supposedly starting very soon.

The second phase will be the construction of the pedestrian bridge parallel to the existing bridge just past the Country Club entrance allowing pedestrians to continue on a sidewalk instead of walking on the street.  This phase is yet to be funded.
